The pride of PEI, driver Ambyr Campbell will represent her home province, while Truro’s very own Tammy Mackay will fly the colours as the sentimental hometown favourite. Impressive 2023 Inverness Raceway rookie driving sensation Monica Sutherland will look to show her stuff in the field, as will Ontario Women’s Drivers Championship driving participant and Midland, Ontario native Maggie Jones and Kawartha Downs regular and Bailieboro, Ontario native Samara Johnson.
“I am very excited to take part in The Harness the Hope Ladies' Drivers' Fundraiser at Truro Raceway. This charity event is for those who have been personally affected by breast cancer.
There have been several fundraisers at quite a few racetracks to benefit cancer support programs, awareness, and research within Canada. Taking part in Truro Raceway's Harness the Hope Fundraiser is a wonderful opportunity to benefit breast cancer research in our local area.
To add to it, being part of a ladies' drivers' challenge is always exciting. I've been to quite a few of these events over the years, but nothing compares to racing at home. Being at your home racetrack with familiar faces, lots of good friends, and a new grandstand facility will surely add to the day's excitement. I am very thankful for the opportunity to participate.” commented Mackay.
Combined, the field has an incredible, 2202 career victories and just over 8.25 million in career purse earnings.
“We’re excited to have many of Canada’s top female drivers competing in this event. We’d like to support more equity and diversity in our sport, and we’re pleased to give these ladies the opportunity to showcase their incredible talent and abilities in our challenge.” said Truro Raceway General Manager Steve Fitzsimmons.
The event will be part of Truro Raceway’s Harness the Hope fundraiser. For sponsorship information on this event, please email gm.truroraceway@gmail.com.
