Welcome to the Hubtown Horse Owners Club
Truro Raceway would like to welcome you to the Hubtown Horse Owners Club and thank you for supporting the Harness Racing industry in Truro, Nova Scotia!
We are thrilled to be offering this program so that you can experience the excitement of being an owner first hand. Owners play a special role in the growth and development of racing programs worldwide. Your support provides a boost to harness racing in Atlantic Canada and demonstrates the strength of our community. Please accept our sincerest thanks for taking part in the Hubtown Horse Owners Club!
As a member of the Club, we encourage you to track the progress of our Standardbred race horse throughout the season, join us at the races if you can, cheer louder than any other fans, and hopefully even take a trip to the Winners’ Circle! Share your experiences with us through posts and stories. Contribute photos and videos to share with the group.
The more you embrace the excitement of being an owner, the more rewarding the experience will be!
For more information on how you can be a part of the club and join in on all the fun, email General Manager Steve Fitzsimmons at gm.truroraceway@gmail.com.

Betting Line - Double Switch - Russell Hanover
Everyone, we'd like you to meet Atlas Marigold, the newest horse of the Hubtown Horse Owners Club for the 2024 race season.
He's a very handsome 4-year-old Betting Line gelding, who most recently has been racing on the Ontario circuit.
Atlas has made 23 career starts between 2023 and 2024, with 2 wins, 2 seconds and 1 third and earnings of $10,330. He has a race mark at Flamboro Downs in 1:57.3, but was race timed in 1:54.2 at Woodbine Mohawk Park last summer.
We believe the move to the East Coast will be a welcome one for him and hope to see the kind of improvement we saw last year from both Little Taggs and Delightful Wine.
He will be under the care of trainer Gardner "Wink" McCallum and will be ready to race on Truro Raceway's opening day on May 19th.
To join the Hubtown Horse Owners Club this season and own a share, it's only $160 for the 2024 race season.
For additional information or to purchase a share, contact Truro Raceway GM Steve Fitzsimmons at 902-956-0024 or email gm.truroraceway@gmail.com.
2024 Hubtown Trainer: Gardner “Wink” McCallum
Truro Raceway is pleased to announce the Trainer on behalf of the Hubtown Horse Owners Club for 2024 will be Gardner “Wink” McCallum.
Mr. McCallum, a native of North River, N.S., has been involved in harness racing for 50+ years. He has been involved in all aspects of the industry, including breaking and training young horses and training and racing both young and aged horses.
He also has experience dealing with a fractional ownership stable, having been the trainer of record for the Won’t Back Down Stable, who tied for the 2nd leading individual owner by wins (behind the Hubtown Horse Owners Club) at Truro Raceway in 2023.
McCallum was the trainer of record for Risin Horizon, who smashed the ¾ mile Canadian record for pacers over a half mile track on July 16th at Truro Raceway during distance day.
He also trained Truro stalwarts Sunny Billion, Bet On Jessica and others. Last season his charges had a 6-10-8 record at Truro in 45 starts, earning McCallum a rock solid .316 UTRS.
“Wink has a history of being a successful developer and trainer of solid race horses. I’m sure that the Hubtown Horse Owners will appreciate his attention to detail and the care that he takes with his horses, setting them up to succeed.” Said Truro Raceway General Manager Steve Fitzsimmons.
An announcement on what horse will race under the Hubtown Banner this season will not be made until April.
